  1. You think Winterfell might need to call in Tony Stark at some point? Bit of a black sheep in the family, but he knows how a team works, right?

    • Tony is currently playing for the NY Avengers, but you’re right; his speed and hard hitting make him a force out on the field.

The downside is his off field behavior. The man likes his nightlife, and Winterfall isn’t very cosmopolitan. He gets a pass in New York, but Westeros seems a bit less willing to laugh off things.

  2. Hard to start a season on such a sour note. The death of “The King” is a great loss for the sport. You could argue that it was preventable, which is only going to get political. People with littler understanding of the FSL are going to be clamoring for new rules and rule changes to curb these kinds of injuries in the future…

Baratheon’s death was just 1 one of a few dark clouds descending over the 2012 FSL season. We all expected that Mordor would rebound, but did anyone think that the Empire would strike back so quickly?

  3. Dad-gummit Jayne Cobb! If I knew Chinese you would be getting a stream of it right now. GIVE SOMEONE ELSE THE MacGUFFIN! I sincerely hope you lose your cut of this week’s take. Jeez!

Rivendell looks good, despite my concern about Baggins. He seems to be carrying an extra hidden weapon nobody but the team knows about.

    • Also, and I’m sorry I didn’t add this in the first reply: Long Live the King.

I never followed the Westeros League, there are too many leagues to follow as we all know… but The Baratheon name floats around this entire sport. I will be lifting a Tankard at the beginning of the Arrakis game, as I am sure we will all be. Rooting for the Sandworms, but Lifting a Tankard all the same.

Robert Baratheon, up there with the All-Time Greats— John Carter and King Kull. We miss you all.

      • I don’t want to sound like the tin-foil hat crowd, but the King reminded me of a King from Memphis out there toward the end. I hope the league does a proper investigation into this, and not a whitewash like they did with the Black Knights back in the 1970s. I know it was a long time ago, but a man ended up losing all four limbs to what was described as a “flesh wound”. Do it right FSL.

  4. T’Pau is walking a very precarious line in this new direction. Bringing in Kirk and McCoy works because of their synergy with Spock, but with him taking more of a side-lines leadership role, they need to consider the ramifications of how these new players will affect the rest of the team. They don’t play the same game that has given the Velocity their past successes. Every few years the Velocity tends to try this more emotional play-style but it only ever lasts a few games – it never quite fits.

I’d say, fine, keep Kirk and McCoy but keep them to the special teams when you need to throw off your opponents reaction, you can’t (shoudn’t!) build a Vulcan team around them. What are we, the SF Federation? There’s a reason they’re in the minors.

    • Kirk is a stud. And there’s a reason McCoy is called “Bones”. It’s because when he’s on defense, people are afraid he might break them!

It’s about damn time a team from the UFP League break through the glass ceiling, and if the SF Power Trio are the ones to lead the way for teams like the Deep Space Niners or the Romulus Warbirds, than I’m all for it.

Fear the Power Trio, baby. I’m in full fan mode on this one.
