Hey, very good episode…just hoped it was longer. how about voting to “elect” who should RUN for the presidency? ehh.. just that the last election disappointed me.

Another GREAT!!! episode of East Meets West. Since this is fresh in my mind I will say it first. In history classes that I took a while back we were told that the reason there was an electoral college was because people back in the day did not have the means to learn about their candidate and that the EC was put into place to keep people from voting for the wrong candidate….ok, *IF* that was the actual case, don’t you think we should get rid of the EC, I mean, EVERYONE unless they are living under a rock knows about the candidates. Maybe not everyone, but enough people do to vote for the right candidate.
Ok, secondly. PLEASE, PLEASE do me a favor and STAY AWAY from Sucralose, Splenda, Sweet & Low, etc. They are dangerous!!! VERY dangerous. A few years back I was on a diet and I decided to start using Splenda. I won’t go into the details about what it done to me, just stay away from it! There was even a report I found online that said that in rats it aborted pregnancies.
Third. When my grandparents were growing up, the train would go through and they would drop the mail onto a hook in town.
Fourth. Correct me if I am wrong, but someone told me that we are not going to do a “Fall Back” when we normally do, but do it later. I can’t remember when it was. But, the person who said that to me said it was because the President said it would save energy.
Ok. I gotta go, its thundering and lightning here. We had tornado warnings earlier. I’m suprised I’ve got this much typed without the power going out (luckily I’ve been copying, pasting and saving to Notepad).
Great episode guys, keep up the great work. OoOOh, one last thing, was glad to see Rodger on dl.tv a few episodes back, well, at least his thumb.

DST is a joke in warmer climates. With daylight extending into the evening, people use more energy with air conditioning than with using lights. Coming from Arizona, where DST is not used except for the Navajo Nation, it is nice not to worry about changing your clocks and getting used to a new sleep schedule for a few nights.

At the moment, it is 9:04 AM which is the time I normally get up. BUT, I keep thinking that in actuality it is REALLY 8:04 AM. I feel robbed!!!

ah, politics. have some thoughts on the electoral college paradigm which i’ll get to later in the week but, ran across two blurbs this morning that might be of some interest. first, Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL) cyborg suit and second, banning of Surstromming on British Airways and Air France. the first in relation to the bionic muscles post and the second, considering Tom’s Nordic heritage and if anyone’s tried it or been around it. where does it rank on the pung-o-meter? ah, first day back to school and already swamped with reading material.

I really like the idea of separate enhanced & organic baseball leagues. The classic natural league would be quaint, but the anything-goes extreme league – let’s call it Mutant League Baseball, could bring the game right into the 21st century. It could combine all the edgier elements of hockey, basketball, football & wrestling! Steroids, prosthetic enhancements.. anything would be not just tolerated but encouraged. Add magnesium alloy bats & superballs, enlarge the field and add some obstacle course like hazards & you’d have a game that would attract a whole new audience. It wouldn’t be baseball in any conventional sense, but it sure would be entertaining. :D

Tom! The other day on the Buzzcast you used the term “Bulls hit”. Then on this episode you referenced Penn Jillette’s FreeFM show. I knew it! You listen too!

another great episode .About mandatory voting ,i support it because i believe its a civic duty , like Jurry duty .if you won’t do it who will . the people who don’t vote are the same people who complain when the Democratically elected government does some thing they don’t like .how do i know this i am one of them .
On The drug policy , i would strongly disagree with Roger becoz some of us in the society are not smart enough to refuse to take drugs ,help in the form of a threat from the Government seems to do the trick . imagine the freeways with people high on weed
lastly, TOm you need to brush up on your chem

sounds kind of like extreme Canadian baseketball

I agree about DST being a joke. I think it’s a pain to set all the clocks in the house, only for 1 hour? That’s stupid.
April 7th, 2006 at 4:48 pm
on DST..
For a time in the late 70s or early 80s Camp Pendleton (USMC Base in Oceanside, ca) did not go on DST, so, for half the year the base was in a different time zone than the rest of the state. Why did they do this? Simple, the wife of the General in charge didn’t like having to change the clocks…

Geez, did I set off some people in the BOL forum.
On another topic, you can always bring up Canadian politics again. What do you think of Belinda Stronach possibly running for the Liberal leadership? Some think she is a looker and that is about it.
Her life story in regards to dating Foreign Minister Peter MacKay could be a Lifetime movie if it was presented in her pov or some CBS movie of the week if it was based on his. Betrayed In The House sounds like a good title for a movie or Don’t Cross Over Me.

Roger and Tom, do you watch the Daily Show?

ah, took the FSWE (foreign service written exam) this morning and i have a headache now so, causality? continuing along with headaches, i was going to get into the electoral college sh*te but i’m starting to regurgitate politics and it’s leaving a bad taste in my mouth. that and our essentially two party system sh*te and, gag. as for attractive MPs, Ukraine’s ex-prime minister, Yulia Tymoshenko was on the cover of Elle magazine last year. as for the U.S., in a recent Washington Post article, presidential hopeful McCain said of competing presidential hopeful Gov. Mitt Romney of Mass., “I think he’s a very good man; I think he’s extremely attractive,”. Mitt?

this day in history – Hank Aaron hits number 715

I would not vote for Mitt in a million years, and it is not an anti-Mormon things since I am Mormon. Just think he is a little too slick, even for a politician.

I like that logo that you made jeff s. Just one thing, though- Shouldn’t “Latan” be “Latin”?
April 10th, 2006 at 11:57 pm
forgive me for being anal-retentive but the “Japanese” character would actually be traditional Chinese and probably would sound better with bu 部。 they always go in pairs, something about sounding more pleasant to the ears and rolling off the tongue easier. very clean and i like the mariner’s compass integration.
