New East Meets West Blog

As East Meets West grows and grows we’ve decided to split it off form the SuBBrilliant Blog and give it it’s own dedicated blog. Not to worry though! Same great commentary. Same great podcast, even the same Feedburner feed. Just a new URL.

Hi Roger and Tom (just to please Roger),
In reference to episode 105 would like to address worldwide impressions on the party of the US president. I myself am European (Irish) and I have encountered anti-US sentiment in many parts of Europe. Rightly or wrongly, people are more greatly influenced by the recent past, hence the dislike of the US. I come from a country where democrats, Kennedy and Bill Clinton, are regarded considerably higher than republicans, Bush and Bush and Regan.
Roger may disagree, but this is the worlds perception not Rogers opinion, I can supply reasons why people believe this if needed. In my country there is still significant dislike, although declning, of Britain, especially England, for obvious historical reasons, which I realise Roger stated, this is based on historical perceptions. However McCain s regarded highly here, and next to Obama may be the most popular choice. Hilary is regarded suspiciously, even though Bill achieved a lot in getting peace in northern Ireland.
    Regards,
    Mike
