More interesting ruminations guys. I’ve played with twitter, but been unable to convince anyone else in the real world’ to join me …this is a lifelong pattern and comes as no surprise. :)
Anyway, just to get a taste of twitter I needed to add someone, so I chose a few ‘public strangers’ …like you two. It feels a bit like stalking, and that makes me uncomfortable, because I’m really not nosy by nature. I really don’t want to know what anyone has for breakfast, what nightspot they’re heading out to, or if they’re going to be late for work because they have to go fill a prescription for that embarrassing condition… I’m not saying it shouldn’t be posted, because it may be of interest to actual people (and any potential social partners) in the Twitter’s real life. ;)
Would it be handy to have 2 levels to twitter – personal (invite only) & public?
I for one would like to keep updated on public pronouncements (like when a podcast is being uploaded), but not be privy to personal details that are none of my business. And posters would have fewer moments of ‘candor regret’ :)

I’m a new listener to the podcast. I found it doing a Google search on “Tom Merritt” after listening to a BOL session. It’s been fun listening to the back-logged episodes (Episode 13 makes me cringe). I also loved the special video holiday podcast.

My primary reason for writing is that I was checking my calendar for random holidays (http://holidayinsights.com/moreholidays/April/eastmeetswestday.htm), and today, April 25, is East meets West Day! Now, I knew you guys were growing in popularity and all, but having your own holiday?!? Awesome. How should one celebrate East Meets West Day (other than listening to your favorite EMW podcasts)?

Okay, just a couple random thoughts:
    - I am totally looking forward to colonizing Earth 2.0 (http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/04/25/0024257&from=rss)

    - Thanks for expounding on the evils of Ramen noodles. I always knew they were super-high in sodium, but I hadn’t heard about the whole deep-fried preparation process goes. I am still in the search for a good replacement as there aren’t any Asian Markets around.

    Good on ya’

Hey guys, although its cliché, I’m a long time listener (since Episode 33 or so), but a first time poster. I discovered the EMW podcast by looking at either Tom or Roger’s Wikipedia page. Tom, what is your opinion on the Oakland Athletics leaving Oakland for Fremont?

    Later,
    KevinWI / Kevin from Wisconsin

A-Rod (if Bonds does break 755, A-Rod will most likely break his)

MacBook Pro (I switched to Mac after upgrading to Vista when it first came out)

Soccer (as does a billion+ others every 4 years)

Northern California (go no further south than Monterey, funny how almost all my friends and family have escaped LA)

First time listener/commenter. Always wanted to say that.
Found the podcast through the twit podverse and some Google searches. Just thought I would say hi and let you know you have at least one listener in Sweden. So at least parts of Europe is covered also in the growing EMW empire.

    CoolB’s Crazy Comments
1: Finally got to an episode before the next one was posted, yay!
2: I noticed Roger yawned when Tom mentioned Star Wars.. I often have the same reaction to that, just have never been a big Star Wars fan.
3: Comics are fun, I’m enjoying 52, even though they killed one of my favorite characters. Civil War was ok, but kind of anti-climatic. Justice League isn’t bad either.
4: I often take week long breaks while reading books, or listening to audio books. Don’t usually have too much trouble picking up where I left off.
5: Speaking of audio books.. any news on Boiling Point?
6: Last non comic I read was City of Heroes: The Freedom Phalanx, and the next one on my reading list is Merchant Prince 3: Capital Offense by Armin Shimerman
7: I agree with you on people needing to take responsibility for their actions.
8: I live near Ann Arbor and the U of M. Go Blue!
9: I joined Twitter not to long ago, and I have to say it’s oddly addicting. I’m currently up to 5 followers, woot!

Hey Guys. Its been a while since I listened and I must say my three episode catch up this morning was rather nice. I hear (via Twitter) that you guys are having transport issues? SF is really not an ideal place for elevated highways – especially ones made of steal which shares similar structural qualities as milk chocolate. I find it ironic that they are adding extra trains to BART given that I hear it is notoriously underused anyway!

I’m on twitter and I’m following you! Evil laugh. The problem with twitter is that there is not ‘social’ element to it so to speak. In that I mean, you cant make ‘friends’ or become ‘popular’ on twitter with out bring your own fan set. For example I have been twittering for over a week now and I have one follower as I have basically told no one that I’m on twitter. Furthermore, its not doing all that well on the younger segment of the market.

I like your talk about high school social stuff. I’m still date-less for the school Prom. Any advice (other than get a date, ‘cos all the cool chicks have found dates :( )?

    Have a great day,
    Ross (rosscbrown)
