Step 1. Take a reasonable position you know your opponent disagrees with and present it in the most extreme possible way.

Step 2. Wait for the opponent to overreact.

Step 3. Restate your position in a perfectly reasonable way, even conciliatory.

Step 4. Look at reasonable people you’re trying to convince and raise eyebrows. Point thumb at overreacting opponent and smirk while saying some version of “amiright?”

Step 5. Profit.
